Village of Tsrancha

Tsrancha is a village in southwestern Bulgaria. It is located in Dospat Municipality, Smolyan region.

In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in the municipality of Pazardzhik, Pazardzhik region.

It is located 24 km southwest from the town of Dospat, in the same direction respectively at 96 km from the town of Smolyan and 63 km from the town of Devin and 221 km southeast of Sofia. Brashten village is 6 km southwest.

Situated in a mountainous region in southwestern Rhodope Mountains at an altitude of 1111 meters. Climate is Mediterranean, but due to altitude is not typically expressed. Summer is very hot because there is a constant and moderate wind over and winter is short and with no very heavy snowfall.

The permanent population is about 600 people. Population is occupied with agricultural activity, formed by small farmers and family farms. The main economic activity and incomes are from the production and sale of small-oriental tobacco.

There is a town hall, kindergarten, school, community center, mosque, shop for clothing production, bakery, café, restaurants and shops. In Tsrancha there is a cable TV, internet and mobile phone coverage. The village has one doctor and a dentist. The nearest hospital is in Dospat.

TOURISM

Near the village there is a rock formation, called Skaleto used as a sanctuary during the Late Bronze Age and the Iron Age, where they performed ancient Thracian pagan rituals.

Between Brashten and Tsrancha above river Dospat there is a Roman bridge, which is partly preserved.

Dospat Dam is located nearly 24 km. The dam is the highest in Bulgaria and providing amazing panoramic views. It is rich in fish and has excellent facilities for sport and commercial fishing.

There are many attractions that you can visit: - Trigrad Gorge (54 km) Yagodinska Cave(53 km) Buynovsko Gorge (49 km), Devil's Throat Cave (56 km).
