Choba is situated in Southern Bulgaria, part of Municipality of Brezovo, Plovdiv Region.

The village is 50 km northeastern direction from the town of Plovdiv, 4 km southern direction from the town of Brezovo and about 15 km southwestern direction from the town of Rakovski.

The population is about 900 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with average altitude of 190 m.
The climate in the region is transcontinental that characterizes with mild summer and average temperatures about 0ºС, warm and dry summer with average temperatures about 26ºС.

The village has well-developed infrastructure that includes electricity, water-main, telephone lines, internet and cable TV.
Regular bus transport connects the village with the towns of Plovdiv and Brezovo. About 30 km southwestern direction is Trakya Highway.

There is a community center and a church. A general practitioner takes care of the inhabitants.
Also there are shops and cafes.
The closest education establishments are in the administrative center – town of Brezovo.

 

Places of interest and tourism

Asenova krepost  is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Asenitsa River. It is situated 52 km from the village of Choba. The best preserved and most notable feature of Asenova krepost is the Holy Theotokos of Petrich Church from the 12th-13th century. The town of Asenovgrad takes its modern name from the fortress.

The Bachkovo Monastery or Petritsoni Monastery is situated 60 km from the village and is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest in Bulgaria. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River. The monastery is known and appreciated for the unique combination of Byzantine, Caucasian and Bulgarian culture, united by the common faith.

Also close are situated the town of Chepelare and Pamporovo Resort. This locations have perfect conditions for winter sports and because their beautiful nature they attract tourists also in the summer.
