Byala palanka is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Tvarditsa Municipality, Sliven region.
Situated 30 km northeast from the town of Tvarditza, 31 km northwest from the town of Sliven, some 36 km northwest from the resort Sliven Mineral Baths and 309 km northeast from the city of Sofia.
There is regular bus and train transport.
Located in the southern slopes of Stara planina mountain, at an altitude of 587 m. The climate is temperate and mountainous. Winter is cold, long and snowy, and summer is cool. The natural conditions favor the cultivation of fodder crops, potatoes, tobacco, raspberries. Forests and meadows are rich in mushrooms and mountain berries.
The population is about 1000 people. Substantial part of it is employed in forestry, wood processing and afforestation, and during the summer months many people collect wild herbs and mushrooms.
The village has a town hall, post office, mosque, library, school, kindergarten, cinema, carpentry workshop, shops and cafes. There is cable TV, Internet and mobile phone coverage. Here work two general practitioners. The nearest hospital is in the town of Sliven.
Tourism and Sightseeing
Mount Chumerna - from it opens a magnificent view stretching all the way to the Danube and the Aegean.
Reserve "Byala krava" /White Cow/ - is abundant with wildlife (deer, roe deer, wild boar, wolf, fox etc.), rock formations and caves. Especially attractive is the karst spring in the reserve from which gushes pearly clean water.
Through the village run three rivers: Big River (Kodzha Dere), Little River (Küçük Dere) and Kodzhamar Dere, wich merge into the village. They have a variety of fish - barbel, gudgeon, dace, trout.
Emblem of the village is a frozen volcano, which locals call Kodzha tash (Big Rock).
