Village of Bukata

Bukata is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.
It is 26 km west from the town of Rudozem, 28 km southwest from the town of Smolyan, about 42 km south from the ski resort Pamporovo and 268 km southwest from the city of Sofia.
Village of Bukata is beautifully situated on the hill next to the upper reaches of the river Arda at 1041 m altitude. The village is small with about 90 inhabitants.
The climate is mountainous with a strong Aegean influence. Mild, snowy winter, cool and humid summer, long and warm autumn.
Bukata has a town hall, community center and shop. There are Internet, cable TV and mobile phone coverage.
Nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are located in the town of Smolyan.
Tourism
The village offers excellent conditions for rural and ecological tourism. There are several small family hotels.
Here is the architectural complex "Hadzhiiski houses" - Summer feudal castle / Konak / - restored and turned into a hotel restaurant. Three large buildings form an architectural ensemble surrounding a courtyard garden and spring water.
In it can be seen an ancient bread oven, along with tools for plowing and harvesting, seeders, threshers, mill and flour. If they want tourists themselves can interfere in preparation of bread.
Guests of the village can see also the process of wool processing. Displaying different types of wool, carding machines for its processing, distaff and spindles for spinning and loom weaving. The exhibits are active and visitors can try their skills.
1 km south of the village is mineral spring "Ladzhata", which waters heal skin and nerve diseases.
Cave "Uhlovitsa" is located 5 km south from the village of Bukata. It is one of the oldest in the region and the richest in cave shapes caves in Bulgaria. The cave is hall the gulf and ends with 4 beautiful lakes.
