Brod is a village in South Bulgaria. It is situated Dimitrovgrad municipality, Haskovo region.
The village is 7 km east of Dimitrovgrad, 25 km northeast of Haskovo, 95 km southeast of Plovdiv and 200 km southeast from the capital of Sofia. The closest settlements are Voden and Chernogorovo, just 2-3 km to the south.
Brod is situated along the left bank of Maritsa River. The area is a combination of flat and hilly terrain. Summers are hot and winters are mild. Soils in the area are very fertile. Altitude is about 80 m.
The population is about 800 people.
The settlement has water, electricity and communication networks. On the territory there is a city hall, a church, a community center, a shop. GP can be found in the neighbour village of Voden, and dentist in the village of Chernogorovo. The nearest specialized medical care, kindergartens and schools - in town of Dimitrovgrad.
Cultural and natural landmarks
Community center "Pano Angelov" was founded in 1926 and was named after the Thracian voivoda, born in the village of Brod. The community center has rehearsal halls, rooms, hobby clubs, museum collection. The library consists of 11,500 volumes of literature. The community center has a folk singing group, a group for old songs and a children club "Bulgarche".
"St. George" church has existed since the 19th century and the construction of the current church began 1938. The village celebrates its holiday on the 7th of July - Holy Saturday.
Hadjiev most, Kostadinova cheshma, Diado Vulevi chuki - each area near Brod bears a name connected with the history of the village.
