Bratan is a village in southeastern Bulgaria. It is located in Kotel Municipality, Sliven region.
It is 23 km northwest from the town of Kotel, about 35 km southwest from the town of Omurtag, 75 km north from the town of Sliven and 320 km northeast from the city of Sofia.
Located in a mountainous area at 639 m above sea level. The permanent population is about 25 people.
The climate is temperate-continental with Mediterranean influence. Characterized by short summer and cool winter.
Village of Bratan has a town hall and shop. Mobile operators have coverage. The nearest kindergarten, school and hospital are located in the town of Kotel.
Tourism
Through the village passes river Golyama Kamchia, creating conditions for fishing and outdoor recreation.
In the town of Kotel the following sites can be visited : Pantheon of Georgi Rakovski, Museum of Renaissance and Natural History Museum and Historical Museum, which are part of the hundred tourist sites in Bulgaria.
About 39 km northwest from the village is located village of Zheravna - architectural reserve also one of the 100 national tourist sites. There can be seen over 200 wooden houses built during the Revival period.
