Borino is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is the administrative center of Borino municipality, Smolyan Region.

Borino village is located at 1140 m altitude in a valley in western Rhodope. The village is located 53 km northwest of Smolyan, 100 km southwest of Plovdiv and 207 southeast of Sofia. The population is around 2547 people. The relief is a typical mountain, with the characteristics of that part of the Rhodope Mountains - steep and inaccessible places  slopes, from deep ravines to easy to walk slopes. The climate is characterized by lower summer temperatures and heavy rains, the snow cover stays relatively long. In the municipality is  located the nature reserve Kastrakli a total area of 124 ha. It has a beautiful landscape of sheer cliffs, forests of white pine, fir, beech, maple, hornbeam and aspen body, and many mixed forests, which are not found elsewhere in the country.
Тhrough Borino passes the main road in the southern part of the  Rhodopes,  from Smolyan  to Dospat, Devin, Gotsee Delchev, Velingrad, Batak. Twice a day to Borino travels bus from "Rhodope" bus station in Plovdiv.
The main economic activities in the village are timber and wood processing, tourism, food processing, textile industry. School in the village was founded in 1902 and operates today. Cultural activities of the village is concentrated in the local community center "Obnova", which has a library, theater and computer room.
The region has diverse natural beauty and attractions. Among them are Yagodinа cave, Buynovsko Gorge, Devil's Throat cave / Diavolsko garlo/, Trigrad Gorge. In Borino operates and Tourist Information Center where you can get information on accommodation in local family hotels to the most interesting tourist routes.
