Village of Bazan

Bazan is a village in Northern Bulgaria. It is situated in Ruse Municipality, Ruse Region.

It is 18 km south-east from the centre of Ruse, 19 km north-west from town of Vetovo, 174 km in the same direction from town of Varna and 313 km north-east from city of Sofia.

Regular bus transportation goes to Ruse and the neighbouring towns and villages. Railway stop Yastrebovo (Ruse-Varna railway line) is just 2 km away.

The village spreads out the eastern part of the Danube plain, on 146 m above the sea level. It characterizes with plain relief and humid continental climate. Cold winters and dry, hot summers.

The population is approximately 1230 people. Electricity, water and communication equipment are provided. No sewerage system.

There is a town-hall, a post office, a community centre with a library, a church, health service and commercial areas. The nearest operational school and kindergarten are in the neighbouring village of Semerdzhievo (6 km away).

In close proximity to the village is located the private 'Bazan' airport, which is the only operational one in the region.

The population is occupied in agriculture, diary production and tailoring.

Tourism

Next to the village you can find a small water basin, where you can go fishing.

Bazan is just 12 km away of Rusenski Lom Natural Park. The park is an interesting mixture of caves and rock formations, historical monuments and zones with rich variety of species. There are routes for pedestrian tourism, bicycle cross, eco-educational paths and places for bird and wild mammals' surveillance. For those who seek extreme experiences the park offers canoeing, marches with horses and bicycles, rock climbing, etc.

About 19 km away is the operational and well-preserved rocky monastery 'St Dimitrii Basarbovski' at village of Basarbovo.
