Buta village

Buta is a village in South-Central Bulgaria, part of Panagyurishte Municipality, Pazardzhik region.

It lies about 37 km northern direction of the town of Pazardzhik and about 8 km southern direction from the regional town of Pazardzhik.

The population is about 1182 inhabitants.

The terrain is low-mountain, with average altitude of 431m.
The climate is transitional continental with warm summer, dry fall and mild winter.

The village has electricity, partly paved and lightened streets, partial sewerage installation, water main. There is Internet and telecommunications.

About 30 km north from the village passes European road E-80 (from Beograde through Sofia to Istanbul) and Highway A1 “Trakia”, (Sofia – Plovdiv – Stara Zagora). Right next to the village passes secondary road 37 that connects it to the towns of Panagyurishte and Pazardzhik.

Working days there is a bus transport to the village from the town of Panagyurishte. Every day there are constantly passing buses that connect the village with the town of Pazardzhik.

The village has town hall, post office, church, elementary school with modern computer equipment, kindergarten, fully equipped gym and bodybuilding, community center. There are many retail shops, cafes and restaurants.
There is well organized health service and a dentist office in the village.

 

Places of interest and tourism

The village of Buta has a long history. In its land are preserved nine burial mounds of the Thracian period. The excavations revealed a variety of silver and gold jewelry and coins from different eras.

The ruins of ancient fortress Krassen Kale are located on a hill about 3 km northeast from the village of Buta. They probably remain from the X-th century with some buildings and walls still preserved (some with a height of 6 meters).

Once there were four chapels in the four corners of the village, but today there are only two – St. Elijah and St. Petka, which are in a process of restoration.

On the territory of the village there are two small dams excellent for fishing. Through the village of Buta runs the river Banska Luda Yana – golden grains have been often found in its tray.

About 4 km east from the village of Buta is situated the resort village of Banya, which is famous for its healing mineral water with temperature of 42 ºС.
