Banitsa is a village in Vratsa municipality, District Vratsa.
It is situated 18 km north - east of Vratsa, about 30 km south - west of Byala Slatina, about 40 km in the same direction of Knezha and about 130 km north of Sofia. The village is located on the main road Vratsa - Oryahovo.
Banitsa is set in the Danube valley, on 290 m altitude. The climate is characterized by warm summers and cold winters.
The population is about 1200 people.
The village has a well developed infrastructure, the streets are paved, electricity, water supply and sewerage systems are available.
There are grocery stores, clothing stores, cafes, restaurants, swimming pool, church, a kindergarten and elementary school. Artistic, cultural and media activities are developed, and the vast library stored valuable books and journals.
There are two general practitioners.
Regular bus transport connects the village with Vratsa, Byala slatina and Kozloduy. Several family villas offer accommodation of tourists.
Banitsa is the first village with video surveillance in the country.
The village is famous for its healing mineral waters which are situated in the center.
Church of St. Nicholas was built in 16 century and is one of the most beautiful in the region. In the village of Banica rises historic peak Milin kamak/ Milin stone/, where was lead the first battle of Botev with the Turks on Bulgarian soil . Stroumina medieval grave is located near by. .
The village selebrates its day on 2 June each year. A unique for the country contest takes in May place for the most delicious pastry called "The pastry in the village of Banitsa/ Pastry/". The residents of the village are renowned for their preparation of delicious pies and local cuisine, which is appreciated on the culinary contests.
