Ugarchin is a town in Northern Bulgaria, the administrative center of Ugarchin, Lovech District.
It is 33 km west of town of Lovech and 28 km east of Lukovit, 54 km southwest of the town of Pleven , 107 km west from the town of Veliko Tarnovo, 130 km northeast of the city of Sofia.
The population is about 2800 people.
Located in the northern parts of the Pre Balkans, along the Kamenica river and its many small tributaries. Situated in a valley surrounded with low hills.
The altitude is 330 m.
Ugarchin falls in an area with temperate climate characterized by hot summers and cold winters. Thanks to the hills surrounding the valley, it is protected from the northeastern and eastern winds.
The town is with maintained infrastructure.
There are two general practitioners, dentists, community center, high school, unified child care, sports complex, including a sports hall with 830 seats and an Olympic size stadium.
Regular bus service connects the city with settlements in the area.
About 20 km south from the dam Sopot, which is fourth largest in Bulgaria, 7 km long and 2 kilometers wide. There are restaurant, offering freshly caught fish. There are also several bungalows near the water. This is a wonderful place for fishing, an escape from summer heat, windsurfing for beginners or boating.
Of interest are the eco nature reserve to Napoya, to Siniya vir and Koynets.
Nearby are unique Saeva dupka cave, Glojenski Monastery and Troyan Monastery.
