Svoge is town in Sofia region. It is administrative center of Svoge municipality.
It is situated in the Iskar gorge near the mouth of the river Iskretska (Iskarets). At this point meet three mountains - Mala planina mountain, Golema planina mountain and Ponor mountain. The town is 40 km of Sofia, 25 km of Novi Iskar and Lakatnik and 60 km of Mezdra. It is center of the largest municipality in Bulgaria.
In Svoge is located the famous factory for chocolates and sweets Kraft Jacobs Suchard which has become eponymous for the town. There also is the factory Grafobal Bulgaria Ltd for cartons and textile.
The climate and the mountain terrain provide conditions for bee keeping, collecting of raspberries, herbs and mushrooms.
In Svoge there are town hall, elementary school, two primary schools, three kindergartens and two high schools. Hospital and two medical centers help the people in the town.
In the municipality there are numerous natural landmarks that should be seen - Lakatnishkite rocks near the village of Lakatnik and the cave Temnata dupka that is situated at their foot, near Bov village is the Skaklya waterfall and Elata cave, Sedemte prestola monastery (near Elisayna), the Iskrets monastery as well as a couple of cottages in the area - Poboinitsa, Trastenaya, Dobarchin etc. The nature around Svoge is unique with the variety of its forests and beautiful meadows.
The teritory of the municipality is crossed by the railroad Sofia - Mezdra (constructed in 1986) as well as some important and busy highways that are part of the country road network.
The main road in the municipality is II-16 road /Mezdra - Botevgrad/ - Rebarkovo - Elisaina - Svoge - Sofia which passes through Svoge in direction south - northeast and connects it to Sofia and to North Bulgaria.
