Sungurlare is the administrative center of the municipality in Burgas region.
The town is located 82 km northwest of Burgas, 28 km in the same direction from Karnobat, 44 km northeast of Yambol, 48 km northwest of Aytos and about 370 km east of Sofia.
It is located in Sungurlare Valley, at an altitude of 189 meters. The climate is temperate. It is characterized by mild winters, early spring, summer and moderately warm autumn.
The population is about 3700 people. There is a regular bus service to neighboring towns and villages and Burgas.
Sungurlare is fully electrified and supplied with water, with partially developed sewerage. There are a post office, police station, shops, banks. There is a community center, a secondary school and kindergarten. Medical care is covered by three GPs and a dentist. The nearest hospital is located in Karnobat.
In the town tourists can visit the church "St. Michael" and Museum of Vine and Wine, founded in 1984. Sungurlare area is known for its well-developed wine traditions. Feast of the town is celebrated on February 14 - the day of the grower and the winery "Trifon".
