Parvomay is a town in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in municipality of Parvomay, Plovdiv district.
The town is situated 42 west direction of the town of Plovdiv, 60 km northeast direction of the town of Stara Zagora and 36 km east direction of the town of Haskovo.
The population is about 15000 inhabitants.
The terrain is hilly plain and has average altitude of 293 m. The climate is Mediterranean with dry and hot with average temperatures of 25-26°С and the winter is mild and snowy with average temperatures of 1-2°С. The annual rainfall is below the average for the country.
The town has excellent built infrastructure – technical, transport, manufacturing and social infrastructure.
There are electricity and water and sewerage installations. The street and transport networks are well-developed.
In closeness highway Trakia and Maritsa go through. Maritsa highway is under construction and will connect Trakia highway with the border point Kapitan Andreevi. Also railway Sofia-Istanbul, road from Stara Zagora and Chirpan for Asenovgrad and Smolyan as well as the third and forth class roads are close.
There are schools, kindergarten, community center and rich library.
The light industry, tobacco and food industry are developed as well as agriculture.
A large part of the light industry is taken by the textile, leather and plastic products.
Main part of the food industry is the production and processing of fresh vegetables and fruits, canned food and trading in the domestic and foreign markets. Here is manufactured the famous of several generations chutney “Hortse, food for kids “Mlechko”, ketchup, sauces, jams and frozen vegetables.
Due to the specific climate in the region the production of vegetables, industrial crops and cereals is developed.
Asenova krepost is a medieval fortress in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains, on a high rocky ridge on the left bank of the Asenitsa River. It is situated 40 km from the town of Parvomay. The best preserved and most notable feature of Asenova krepost is the Holy Theotokos of Petrich Church from the 12th-13th century. The town of Asenovgrad takes its modern name from the fortress.
The Bachkovo Monastery or Petritsoni Monastery is situated 48 km from the town and is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest in Bulgaria. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River. The monastery is known and appreciated for the unique combination of Byzantine, Caucasian and Bulgarian culture, united by the common faith.
Also not far are situated the town of Chepelare and Pamporovo Resort where you can find the perfect conditions for winter sports.
There are mineral springs in the villages of Dragoinovo and Byal reka.
Three rivers go through the territory of the municipality – Maritsa, Kayliika and Mechka and several small rivers that follow into them.
