Nedelino is a town in southern Bulgaria, the administrative center of Nedelino Municipality, Smolyan region.

LOCATION

Located at 16 km north from the town of Zlatograd, 26 km southeast from the town of Madan, 60 km southeast from the town of Smolyan and 288 km southeast from the city of Sofia.

Nedelino Municipality is located in the Rhodope Mountains along the rivers Nedelinska and Dimanovska.

The municipality includes the municipal center - town of Nedelino and 15 settlements. Nedelino town is situated on both banks of the river Nedelinska. Its altitude is 480 m.

CLIMATE

The climate in the municipality Nedelino is transitional-continental with a strong influence of the Mediterranean, and the higher mountain areas. Winter is mild and snowy, no sharp and prolonged cold snap thanks to the fencing hills to the west and north. Summer is cool and moist, and the autumn - long and warm. The average summer (in July) temperature is 19.4 C °, the average winter temperature (in January) is 1.6 C °.

HEALTH CARE

Dental services are provided by two dentists. General Practitioners are six.
In Nedelino there are two pharmacies. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Madan.

ECONOMY

The main crops grown here are tobacco, due to favorable climatic and geographical characteristics, and potatoes. Nedelino is one of the leading municipalities in the region of production of oriental tobacco.
Forestlands are well secured and favors the development of local economy in the following areas - tourism, forestry and woodworking, hunting and fishing, cultivation and processing of herbs, mushrooms and berries.

INFRASTRUCTURE

There is a developed road network. Roads in town are second class, class IV road, passing through the municipality is Beli Izvor - Nedelino - Zlatograd. There are direct buses to Madan, Smolyan and Zlatograd.
The town has a library, town hall, school, kindergarten, churches and two mosques, cafe, restaurant, tavern and hotel.

TOURISM

In the town of Nedelino you can visit:

Mout 'St. Nedelya " - 865 meters high where was built the chapel" St. Nedelya ".
Chapels "St. Constantine and Helena" , "St. Athanasius" and "St. Nedelya" - forming so called "Krastata forest".
Peak Alada - the highest point in this area - 1241 m. It is located 20 km east from Nedelino. At the foot of the tribune is stretched green lawn that is ideal for picnics.
Ustra fortress. Located at 1015 m altitude, near the border with Nedelino in Dzhebel municipality. The length of the entire wall is 113 meters and height of the walls preserved reaches 10 meters in circumference of the fort, archaeologists have uncovered the foundations of dwellings, water reservoirs and storage of food. For the castle is believed was built in 12-10 century BC H. by the Thracians. Having served not only for defense, but also home to Thracian captains.

Every second house in Nedelino offere guest rooms and home cooked meals. Town guests can choose between hotel based in the city, or climb the hill above the town, where there is a luxury hotel complex.
