Klisura is a town in Southern Bulgaria, part of Municipality of Karlovo, District of Plovdiv.

There are two more settlements in Bulgaria with the same name. One is in Municipality of Samokov, District of Sofia and another one in Municipality of Blagoevgrad, District Blagoevgrad.

It stands about 92 km north-west from the town of Plovdiv and about 33 km north-west from the town of Karlovo.

The population of Klisura is about 1200 residents.

The relief is mountainous, with average altitude about 660 m.
The climate is continental, characterized with snowy, but soft winters and sunny and cool summers.

The town disposes of excellently developed technical, transport, manufacturing and social infrastructure. There are full electrification, water supply and sewerage systems. The street and transport networks are well-settled.

The European Route E871 and the railway route Sofia-Plovdiv-Burgas pass close to the town.

There are several schools, kindergartens, community centers and historical museum.

There are GPs and dental practices

Economy

Manufacture and trade with mineral waters and soft drinks for the Bulgarian and International markets with wide variety of products from the mineral and source waters of Klisura.

Bogdan Furniture – one of the oldest furniture manufacturers, producing for the Bulgarian and international markets, with long- term partnershipс with popular British companies.

Tourism

In Klisura is the monument of Ivan Stankov–Borimechkata – a hero of the April raising, commander of the cherry artillery.
There are a number of museum houses and cultural monuments.

The rivers Dalga and Stryama pass close to Klisura and their banks with beautiful surrounding nature are suitable for recreation, walks and fishing.
