Location
Zona B5 is one of the new central quarters in Sofia. It is located close to Rouski Pametnik square. Three large boulevards pass through it - Gen. Skobelev, Aleksandar Stambolijski and Todor Alexandrov. These new and wide road arteries connect the quarter with the remaining parts of the capital.
Architecture
Zona B5 is built in the 80s as an elite and modern quarter in the city center, meant to satisfy the housing needs of the art society at the time. The construction from this period is mainly high, very high-quality blocks of flats. Besides the high rise buildings, there are also brick blocks along Al. Stambolijski Blvd. Between Al. Stambolijski and Todor Alexandrov Blvds. many new housing and office buildings have been built.
Economics, education and healthcare
Mall of Sofia is at the corner of Aleksandar Stambolijski Blvd. and Opalchenska St. offers excellent boutiques and cinema as well as fast food restaurants and supermarkets.
There are two kindergartens and three schools in the quarter – Comprehensive High School No. 30 at Aleksandar Stambolijski Blvd., Svetlina at Odrin St. and again at Al. Stambolijski Blvd. – Vocational High School in Machine Building and Ezikov Sviat; Private Profiled School with Intensive Foreign Language Teaching. The Sportna Sofia sports complex at the Bulgarska morava St., the Blue Palace business center at Parteni Nishavksi St. and the Amitzena medical center at the same street.
