The residential complex Tolstoy is located in the northern part of Sofia city.
The quarter borders to the south with a transport junction leading to Sofia downtown and the Northern industrial zone. To the west Tolstoy stretches up to Nadezhda-2 quarter, to the north with Svoboda quarter and with Rozhen blvd. to the east.
The construction in Tolstoy began more than 50 years ago and the lots of greenery between the block of flats is preserved. The first panel building in Bulgaria were built in the end of the 50's in the quarter.
The oldest panel block of flats don't have balconies but their main advantage is the outside plaster made of wall-board that have very good thermo insulation property. The building constructed in recent times are the high-rise buildings located across Osmi Mart / Eight March / factory and the eight-storey panel blocks with numers from 50 to 56 set along Republika blvd. There are small houses with or without yards left in the quarter that were not demolished during the construction of the new buildings.
There is only one school in the quarter - the 54th school located on Rozhen blvd.
