Darvenitsa quarter is a small quarter, situated South-eastern from the centre of Sofia city. It is in close proximity to Studentski grad quarter and to most of the capital's universities. This is the reason why Darvenitsa is so attractive to all students and young families.
The quarter borders Studentski grad quarter on the West and Malinova dolina quarter on the South. On the Southern part Andrei Lyapchev Blvd passes through. Darvenitsa also borders Mladost 1 quarter on the East and Musagenitsa quarter on the North. Between Darvenitsa and Musagenitsa quarters are located many research institutes.
There is a big diversity of residential buildings in the quarter. Some of the brick buildings were constructed about fifty years ago. They are centralized mainly on St Kliment Ohridski Blvd. The newer brick buildings were constructed in the last ten years. Most of the residential buildings are made of panel and are about 25-30 years old. Unlike the other quarters of the city the high-rise buildings are very few.
Prof. Dr Vasil Zlatarski Private High School with language and humanities subjects and 55th Secondary School are located on St Kliment Ohridski Blvd and Dubnitsa Str. The National oncological centre is also situated on St Kliment Ohridski Blvd. St George church is set on Plovdivsko pole Str.
Next to the quarter are the educational complexes of the Techincal University, University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, University of Mining and geology and four sport student bases, which are located between Druzhba and Studentski grad quarters.
