Varna is the third largest city in Bulgaria. The town is situated on the territory of 29 square kilometers and has a population of over 345 000 inhabitants. According to the law on territorial device Varna is divided on 5 region one of which is a region "ASPARUHOV.

Situated in the southeastern part of the city region "Asparuhovo borders: the Black Sea to the breakwater, port Varna, the railway area, the north road junction on Asparuhov bridge, northern coast of Varna lake and to the north and east of the border village Zvezditsa, and to the northern border of the municipality of Avren.
Region "Asparuhovo" covers two quarters and five urban forms: neighborhoods - Asparuhovo and Galata, urban forms - Zelenika, north Borovets, Borovets South Rakitnika, tourist zone "Priboi". District administration is in Asparuhovo quarter. In the region 24 000 inhabitants live in an area of about 2.4 sq. km.
On the territory of the area are two hospitals, two banks, two churches, three chapels, two community centers, tax office, police department, fire department and emergency safety office for social assistance, seven schools, four kindergartens and two nurseries.

 

History


 Varna district "Asparuhovo leads back to the early years of the 20th century. First name, which is known for the region is SES SEVMES / quiet place/. In 1928 the population was 2873 people. Even then there was a grade school "Prosveta, which to this day, develops greater cultural and educational activities related to the history of the neighborhood. In 1934 was briefly  the quarter was with the name Tihina.  A proposal from  came respected  people that the name should be replaced with Asparuhovo. It is motivated by the fact that the creation of the Bulgarian state in 681 years to the Han Asparuh troops reaches Varna. Thus in 1936 the region obtained its current name - ASPARUHOVO.

 

Archeology



About Asparuhovo - to shore was a Thracian settlement since the 4th century BC. This is evident from the result mound dating from that time.
Dzhanavara area - there are early Christian complex discovered during the Second World War. Open plan is unique in early Christian church from 5 century. In this place in 1923 was buried Shkorpil Hermann.

 

Notables


Born in Galata is  Bulgarian pilot Stoyan Stoyanov the most success in air battles pilot . He studied senior pilotage in Germany. In 1938 he graduated with very good results for school-pilots Vernoyhen fighters near Berlin. His first victory was in August 1, 1943 when he removed two heavy bomber B-24 (type flying fortress with 10 crew) which receives personally by Boris-III comanders purpleheart and Iron Cross by the Embassy of Germany. For the battle against German troops in Macedonia and Kosovo was awarded with honors for bravery and is produced in rank Major.

 

Industry


One of the main sectors, which employs a large number of people in the region is shipbuilding. The island and some channels are shipbuilding factory, CA "Odessos, many private companies engaged in shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance of facilities.
In the region is located textile factory Galateks, company Bagra and  factories for kitchens "Nipo" ;"Dar" ;Express  garncion" "- the production of metal sections and products, canned food factory for" Amurakonserv, North Export - processing fish and fish products, many small tailoring, carpentry and others workshops.

Tourism


This is one of the most important sectors in the region. It is extremely influenced by the fact that the eastern border of the neighborhood stretches to the mighty waters of the Black Sea. Vicinity of Asparuhovo "are covered with holiday homes, holiday villas, hotels and restaurants and tourists have a wide beach.

 

the historical-ethnograhic complex "proto-bulgarian settlement fanagoria"

The historical-ethnographic complex "Proto-Bulgarian settlement Fanagoria" is a one of its kind open-air museum in Bulgaria.
The complex is a replica of a Proto-Bulgarian battle settlement from 6th-8th century and represents wooden protective walls with battle towers, fully "furnished" yurts (a portable, felt-covered, wood lattice-framed dwelling structure traditionally used by the Proto-Bulgarians), working craftsmen workshops, original Proto-Bulgarian outfits, weapons, utensils and furniture. A square has been arranged with a kapishte (a Proto-Bulgarian sanctuary), a khan's and shaman's yurts, an archery ground and a stand for the audience.
Forthcoming is the construction of the second stage of the complex, which will authentically represent the environment of the First Bulgarian capital from the 8th century.

The visitors are offered a guide's lecture, a visit to the yurts and the craftsmen center, archery, information booklet and many souveniers - copies of antique objects.

The evening program also includes a very interesting and dynamic horseback-riding show, repersenting the Proto-Bulgarian feast dedicated to the horses and the young warriors. You will witness supreme horseback riding, horse stunts, a training fight, the khan, the predictions of the shaman and his prayers to Tangra - the Proto-Bulgarian god.

One can also take a picture of himself sitting on the khan's throne and with the partcicpants in the show.
