Gabritsa is a village in southern Bulgaria. It is located in Smolyan Municipality, Smolyan region.
In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name in Venets Municipality, Shumen region.
It is about 6 km north from the town of Smolyan, 25 km southeast from the resort Pamporovo, 29 km northwest from the town of Rudozem and 251 km southeast from the city of Sofia.
The village has a bus to Smolyan.
Gabritsa Village is located in the mountainous area at 1000 m above sea level. The mountain climate is marked by influence of the Mediterranean. Winters are mild and snowy, summer is cool and wet, and the autumn - long and warm.
Its permanent population is about 20 people.
The village has a town hall, church "St. George", chapel "St.Kozma and Damian" and a store. At the village guests can stay in two guest houses. Nearest schools and health facilities are located in the town of Smolyan.
Tourism and landmarks
Near the village is located peak Srednogorets where is situated a glorious monument - "Rhodope Shipka", 16 meters high. It was established in honor of the heroic fighters killed in battle with the Turks for the freedom of Smolyan region.
Gabritsa offers many opportunities for outings and picnics in the mountain. The proximity of the Smolyan lakes and is a prerequisite for fishing.
