The village of Asen is located in the Teteven Balkan, in the region of Lovech.
It’s 12 km Northwest from Teteven, 24 km from Ribaritsa village and 100 km from the Sofia airport, on the “Hemus” highway. Asen is an upland village situated in the Balkan Mountains area, under Kamen Lisets peak, near the high-water river Cherni Vit.
On about 10 km northwest from the village is situated one of the most interesting monasteries on the Balkan Mountains - Glozhene monastery. It’s established during the 13th c. and is located on the Lisets Peak. Near the monastery is situated the Morovitsa cave, which has 3025 underground galleries and is one of the longest in Bulgaria. There are found objects, that are used by the primitive people and it’s protected as Natural Sight of Bulgaria. The Vara fall, the Asen fortress, Draganchovitsa cave, Saeva dupka cave, Bezdanen pchelin cave and Yamata are also attractive sights.
The terrain is extraordinary suitable for hunting, fishing, tourism or for taking rest by the river. There are small ski runs, rivers, beech-tree woods and crystal clear air in the area.
