Town/Village:
Banovo is a village in the Northeastern Bulgaria. It is part of the Suvorovo municipality, Varna region. It is located 21 km away from the city of Varna and 15 km away from Varna Airport. It borders the Pobiti kamani area.
The population of the village numbers to approximately 150 people, as part of them are English citizens. The relief is flat-hilly, many deciduous forests are present in the area. The climate is temperate-continental influenced by the proximity to the Black Sea. It is characterized with cool spring, long and hot summer, mild winter with scanty of snowfalls and a rainy autumn. Altitude - 263 m.
Proofs have been found that the settlement existed 4800 years BC and during the time the Thracians lived on these lands. Later on the Romans built a road from Marzianopolis /nowadays Devnya town/ to Noviodunum /currently known as Isakcha - a town in Republic of Romania/ which passed through the territory of nowadays Banovo village. A traveller's station has been built near the road. The remains of both the road and the station may still be seen in the Futula area located south-east of the village.
The infrastructure is very well organized: transportation to the city of Varna on a regular basis, daily medical service, asphalt roads, electricity and water-supply, food shops, a church dedicated to all saints. A project has been developed for the reconstruction of the school and its transformation to a community center and for the construction of a hotel with a restaurant.
From the village there is a magnificent panoramic view towards Varna Lake and the Pobiti Kamani phenomenon. The area is a famouse vine-growing and wine-making center. Various types of quality wines are produced in the area - Muscat Ottonel, Traminer Rose, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil is fertile and suitable for growing of various crops. Stock breeding, though, is not well-developed. The area offers excellent conditions for the development of both eco and rural tourism.
