Selce village is located in southern Bulgaria is part of Maglizh Municipality, Stara Zagora Region.
In Bulgaria there are two villages of the same name in Dobrich and Gabrovo regions.
Situated at the foot of Stara Planina mountain, 37 km northwest of the regional center of Stara Zagora, 16 km northwest of the town Maglizh, 185 km northwest of the Black Sea city of Burgas and 220 km east of Sofia. Village of Selce has a regular bus shuttle from Maglizh
The altitude is 810 meters. The permanent population numbers just 28 people.
Winter in the village is mild the summer is mild.
In the village has a shop, café, and the nearest schools and kindergartens are located in Maglizh. In a village /32 km away/ Raduntsi has a hospital serving the settlements in Maglizh.
SURROUNDING AREAS AND SIGHTS
- Through the territory of the village passes picturesque river Selchenska - offering opportunity for recreation and fishing.
- 14 km south of the village lies the Fortress Maglizh called "Gornenski grad". Enclosed by walls area was approximately 18,000 sq.m, and preserved their current height is 3 m. The castle in its present form was built during the Middle Ages, and ceased to exist during the first years of Ottoman rule.
- Muglizh Monastery of "St. Nicholas". A complex of church, residential and commercial buildings, and two chapels in residential buildings: St. Peter and Paul and St. Michael the Archangel. The monastery was declared a monument of culture.
