Village of Venets

Village of Venets is located in Karnobat municipality, Burgas Province.
There are another two villages bearing the same name in Bulgaria - in Venets municipality, Shumen region and Opan municipality, Stara Zagora region.
Venets is situated the main road Burgas-Sofia. It is situated 15 km west from Karnobat, 73 km north-west from Burgas, 43 km east of Sliven, some 340 km from Sofia.
The population outnumbers about 250 people.
The village has two grocery stores, restaurants, town hall and post office. Medical care is covered by the medical center and there is a hospital in Karnobat. The nearest school and kindergarten are located in the village of Ekzarh - Antimovo and the municipal center. Regular bus service connects the village with Burgas, Sliven, Yambol.
The tourists can visit the following sights near by:
Markeli medieval castle - located about 22 km from Venets. The castle is one of the most significant in Bulgarian history as it is guarded and Varbishki Rishki passes.
Historical museum in Karnobat - founded in 1921. Today, the museum has five divisions - Archaeology, Art, Ethnography, History and Nature.
Church "St. John the Theologian," in Karnobat was built on the site where the older church was burned by the Turks on 01.01.1878.
