Gorna Mitropoliya is a village in North Bulgaria. It is located in Dolna Mitropoliya municipality, Pleven region

It is 6 km west of the town of Dolna Mitropoliya, 15 km north of the town of Dolni Dabnik and 17 km northwest of the town of Pleven. The capital Sofia is 164 km southwest. 

It is situated in plain region and its altitude is 101 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized by hot summer and cold winter. In the summer there are often storms with high wind, pouring rain and hails mostly in June and May. 

Gorna Mitropoliya is one of the largest settlements in the municipality and is well maintained - the streets are asphalted and with lighting. There are constructed water and electricity systems. All mobile operators have coverage. Regular bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. 

The permanent population is about 1830 people. 

Here are functioning town hall, primary school, kindergarten, community center, church, stores and restaurant. For the health of the local people take care two dentists and one GP. The nearest medical center and hospital are in the town of Dolna Mitropoliya where also work high schools. 

In the area there are three dams that are stocked with fish and provide good conditions for sports fishing. There is rowing base constructed on Valchovets dam. 

In the town of Dolna Mitropoliya the tourists can visit interesting historical monuments as well as the Museum of Aviation. Here often are organized races with motors

The local cultural and archaeological heritage in the area is presented mainly by the archaeological reserve "Oescus" near Gigen village (37 km) which is declared cultural monument with national significance. It consists of remains from Roman and Byzantium cities.

In the town of Pleven you can visit three of the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria - Pleven Epopee 1877, the Regional History museum and the mausoleum-chapel "St George Pobedonosets".  Other interesting places in proximity are Kaylaka park and the Wine Museum.
