Sredno gradishte is a village in Chirpan municipality, Stara Zagora region. 
 
It is situated 13 km north of Chirpan, 50 km southwest of the town of Stara Zagora and 200 km southeast of Sofia.
 
It is located at an altitude of 291 meters at the foot of the highest peak in Chirpan hill - Kitkata / 680 m /. The climate is characterized by hot summers and cold winters with prolonged snow cover.
 
The population numbers about 160 people. There is bus service to Chirpan three times a day.
 
The village has a town hall, post office, community center, two shops, two restaurants, church and family hotel. Medical care is accomplished by the health facility with a GP. Nearest kindergartens, schools and hospitals in  Chirpan.
 
An interesting fact is that according to a legend, the sister of Paisiy Hilendarski has lived in the village. In one of his visits, he died and was buried in local cemeteries. As evidence to this fact and that the body belongs to Paisiy Hilendarski, stating that the book which is buried, is made of the same materials of which it is made and the draft of Istoriya slavyanobalgarska / Slavonic-Bulgarian History/.
 
Between the villages Rupkite / 9 km / and Svoboda / 18 km / is located the late Roman fortress "Karasura." Its main (northern) part is to build the prehistoric mound .During the Middle Ages there grew up the city, encompassing territories outside the ancient walls.
 
In Chirpan can be seen the house-museum of the great Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov and Art Gallery "Nikola Manov."
 
About 28 km away is located Zlatnolivadenski monastery "St. Athanasius" - one of the biggest Bulgarian monasteries, and according to recent polls, and one of the oldest in Europe.
