Location
Shipkovo is a village, situated on the northern side of Central Stara Planina, at the foot of Vasilyovska Mountain. It’s part of the Troyan municipality in Lovech region and is 18 km west from Troyan. The nearest airports are Gorna Oryahovitsa /105 km/ and Sofia /160 km/.The nearest river port is Svishtov /110 km/, the nearest sea port – Bourgas /245 km/.
The picturesque village Shipkovo is a natural phenomenon with mountain relief, wonderful climate and mineral springs, embraced by virgin nature.
Shipkovo Mineral Springs is one of the oldest and famous resorts in Bulgaria. It’s made announced for resort 1946. It's 2 km west from the center of the village. Its average altitude is around 700 m.
Balneology
The favourable climatic conditions with combination with the healing mineral waters, natural resources, the lack of excessive bustle, the rich cultural and historical heritage, the various kinds of tourism that can be practiced turn the resort into one of the most preferred and visited places in Troyan area.
There are three mineral springs and some drillings in the resort. The mineral water is from the sulfur-calcium-magnesium kind, with varying temperature from 180 C to 420 C. Mineral water healing is achieved by drinking and balneal treatment. Its chemical content makes her suitable for healing some kind of disease.
