Location

 


The village is situated on the southern slopes of Stara Planina mountain, 50 km north of Stara Zagora. The altitude of the railway station is 720 meters. Through the village passes the railroad Dabovo - Tsareva Livada - Gorna Oryahovitsa. The two villages adjacent are Raduntsi (Sanatorium for disease) and Krastets. Krastets is located on the ridge of Stara Planina and passing through it famous hiking route Kom-Emine. Krastets  is not a village, but rather Railway Station.

History

 

It is believed that the village was founded in 1323, during Tsar Mihail Shishman. At the end of the XIV century here had settled refugees from  Boruy / Stara Zagora, fled the city after the conquest by the Turks in 1371 Perhaps this event is connected with the origin of the name of the village / by Boruy.

Regular Events

Each spring is organized celebration of the church of Sveti Duh / St. Spirit /  - a meeting which gather the villagers together with their relatives and friends. This year's celebration is held in the courtyard of the newly built chapel of St. Andrew, which was built with volunteer work and donations of local people.

Tourism

Over the past 30 years Borushtica is developed primarily as a holiday village. There are three holiday homes belonging to companies in Stara Zagora and Radnevo. Forests in the region are both deciduous and mixed / deciduous and coniferous. Dominate beech, hornbeam and pine. There are almost all herbs typical of the Bulgarian mountains, and many berries and mushrooms.

There are marked hiking trails to the chalet Bulgarka and hence to Buzludzha  peakand the Shipka Pass. The route to hotel Bulgarka is passing for three hours, but to  the town of Maglizh - about 5.  On the territory of the mayoralty is the cave Topla dupka / literally Warm hole/.
