Borislav is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Pordim municipality, Pleven region.

It is 12 km southeast from the town of Pordim and 32 km in the same direction from the town of Pleven. The capital Sofia is 184 km southwest.

It is located in the Danubian Plain and its altitude is 121 m. The climate is temperate and considerably dry. The winter is severe and extremely cold, while the spring is warm and the summer is very hot.

The permanent population is 218 people.

Bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. The main streets are asphalted and with lightning. All mobile operators have coverage.

Here are functioning town hall, community center with choirs, store and coffee shop. The nearest GP and dentist work in the village of Kamenets (5 km northwest) where also works kindergarten. School will find in the village of Odarne (4 km northwest) and specialized assistance you can get at the territory of he town of Pleven.

Tourism and landmarks

In the village of Borislav there is a farm where are bred ostriches.

The legend tells a story of an old settlement which area was covered with thick forests and many sumac plants. That is the reason they named it Smardehcha - which is the old name of the village of Borislav.

During excavations in the area were found plates with the image of a Thracian horseman, bracelets, jewelry and bones of humans and animals. It is interesting to note the existence of so-called "Amishta", which were located west of the village. They represent a rectangular area of 10-12 acres, surrounded on all sides by a deepmoat filled with traps.

In the town of Pleven you can visit three of the 100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria - Pleven Epopee 1877, the Regional History museum and the mausoleum-chapel "St George Pobedonosets". Other interesting places in proximity are Kaylaka park and the Wine Museum.
