Village of Kovachitsa

Kovachitsa is a village in the municipality of Lom, Montana region.

It is situated 12 km southeast of Lom, 58 km north of Montana, 24 kilometers northwest of the city Valchedram 30 km west of Kozloduy town and about 170 km north of Sofia.

It is situated in the Danube valley, 5 km from the river Dunva. The altitude is 100 m

The population is about 1200 people. There is regular transport to Lom, Kozloduy and neighboring settlements.

The village has a town hall, primary school, kindergarten, shops. There is a general practitioner who served the population, and the nearest hospital is located in the town of Lom.

An interesting fact is that the village is warping of settlers from the region of Chiprovtsi Chiprovtsi after the suppression of rebellion in 1688.

Each year organizes a Festival in late August.

At the village can enjoy the many recreation facilities, restaurants and recreation areas along the Danube River.

Fishponds near the village Orsoya / about 26 km / are declared a protected area, where they meet a number of rare animal and plant species.

In Lom tourists can visit the historical museum, Borunskata church monument Tseko Voivode and Almus ancient fortress that is one of the most popular attractions of the city.
