Slokoshtitsa

Slokoshtitsa is a village in Western Bulgaria. It is part of Kyustendil Municipality, District of Kyustendil.

It stands about 2 km south-east of the town of Kyustendil and about 40 km west of the town of Dupnitsa.

The population is about 1700 residents.

The relief is mountainous, and the average altitude is about 529 m.
Climate in the region is continental, with mild winters and cool summers.

The village infrastructure is developed with electric and water-supply systems and partial sewerage system, cable TV, telephone lines, coverage of mobile operators and Internet.
Public transport links Slokoshtitsa to the district town of Kyustendil.

In the settlement there are functioning kindergarten, post office and church. There are shops, restaurants, disco and cafés. The closest schools and hospitals are in the town of Kyustendil.

Medical care for the residents is provided by GP.

Attractions

The close proximity of Kyustendil makes possible visiting of the spas and Roman baths in Kyustendil. The hill of Hisarlaka is rising about 2 km  south-east of the village. There is a fortress there, built at the end of IV and the beginning of V century.

About 75 km away from the village, in the heart of Rila Mountainis one of the most visited sites in Bulgaria– The Rilski Monastery. It is one of the significant monuments symbolizing Bulgaria and is included in the list of the World heritage sites of UNESCO. Numerous exhibits dated from XIV – XIX century are preserved there and can be seen by visitors. The Monastery is an educational and literary center established with remarkable architecture.
