The village of Varbeshnitsa

Varbeshnitsa is a village in northwestern Bulgaria, part of Mezdra, Vratsa Region.

Situated 15 km eastern direction of Vratsa and 8 km northwest direction of Mezdra.

The population is approximately 390 inhabitants.

The terrain is hilly plain with an average altitude of about 360 m.

The climate in the region is temperate and is characterized by mild winters with average temperatures around -1ºC and hot dry summers with average temperatures around 24ºC.

An asphalt road leads to the European route E79, which is connected to the Hemus highway. The closest railway station is located in the municipal center.

Regular bus transport connects it with the administrative center - Vratsa, as well as smaller settlements in the region.

Infrastructure includes complete electrification, water system, telephone, internet and cable TV.

There are town-hall, post office, community center and church. The village has a network of shops and cafes.

A general practitioner serves the population of the village.

The main occupations are agriculture, stone-cutting and livestock.

 

Places of interest and tourism

The village is situated in a beautiful and eco-friendly area. The green hills, forests and vast fields create a feeling of peace and quietness.

Close to the village there is a dam that offers excellent conditions for relaxation and fishing.

The convenient connection of the village with the town of Vratsa allows for visits to see attractions such as Ledenika cave and Vola top, where a monument ossuary in memory of the fallen in the battle for liberation from Ottoman slavery. Every year on June 2 a celebration is held.
