Petarnitsa is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Dolni Dabnik municipality, Pleven region.

It is 11 km south of Dolni Dabnik and 20 km southwest of Pleven. Gradina village is 3 km north, Krushovitsa is 6 km west, the village of Barkach is 5 km south. The capital Sofia is 151 km southwest.

It falls within the fault between the Danubian Plain and the Predbalkan hills. Its altitude is between 80 and 265 m. The climate is temperate and considerably dry and is influenced by the the flat relief. It is characterized by very cold winter, warm spring and hot summer.

Regular bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. The village is with good infrastructure.

The permanent population is about 1668 people.

Here are functioning town hall, community center, church, shops, primary school and kindergarten. There are GP and dentist. In Dolni Dabnik works Medical center and specialized medical assistance you can get in Pleven.

Near Petarnitsa is the protected area Peshterite which is karst canyon with many natural springs and caves.
The church "St Paraskeva" in the village is on more than 130 years and is declared a cultural monument with local significance.

Dolni Dabnik dam is just 10 km away is very suitable for fishing. It is interesting to visit Kapchuka cave. and the canyon of Chernelka river.
In proximity are located Golemanovo kale and Goranovo kale fortresses (8 km).
In Pleven a must see is the Pleven Epopee Panorama.
