Ohoden is a village in the municipality of Vratsa, Vratsa District.

It is about 20 km northeast of the city of Vratsa, 50 km in the same direction of Oryahovo and about 130 km northeast of Sofia. The village is located on the main road Vratsa-Oryahovo.

It is situated in the Danube valley, on the Riverside of Skat. The altitude is about 264 meters climate is characterized by warm summers and cold winters.

The population is about 320 people. There is regular bus transport.

In Ohoden there are electricity and water supply systems. Mobile operators have coverage, all the streets are paved. In the village there are post office and shop. The nearest kindergarten and school are located in the village of Banica / 5 km /. Medical care is covered by the hospitals in  Vratsa.


In 2004, during excavations near the village, archaeologists discovered a unique skeleton of a woman, which dates back 8,100 years. This is the oldest skeleton in Europe, which belonged to the first farmers in Europe. Today, the exhibit can be seen in the Vratsa History Museum, together with ritually outer skeleton buried man, who is also the age of about 8000 years.

In 2010 he was discovered and the oldest temple of the Sun, which is around the age of eight thousand, or about 3,000 years older than Stonehenge.

Studies of the village near Ohoden continue until now, they have been more open ceilings altar antlers, several graves, pottery and ceramics, and other artifacts.
