TOURISM

In the municipality there are suitable conditions and prerequisites for development of recreation and tourism.
Clean air, and old landmarks, Zemen Zemen monastery and beautiful gorge along the river Struma Odranichkiyat monastery and Divlyanskiyat region create good conditions for tourism development.
Although it is one of the famous Bulgarian monasteries, Zemen Monastery St. Joan is not the biggest and not currently occupied by monks.
Monastery dating from the 11th century and is one of the few surviving monuments of medieval Bulgarian architecture. Reproductions of paintings from his church are kept in the halls of the National History Museum in Sofia. Donor's portrait in the Zemen Monastery is the oldest and most artistic value immediately after the precious images of Kaloyan and Desislava the walls in the Boyana church in Sofia. So the church was declared a national monument.

From Zemen and begins Zemen Gorge of the river - one of the most wild, sparsely populated and beautiful places in Bulgaria. The gorge is 15 km long and almost all have them trail to the interior of the Earth.

The fortress system Zemlangrad - the largest and most important stronghold in the gorge.
The remains of the castle show intense life in different periods of Bulgarian history, the most significant are those of the early Byzantine era and the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.
Zemangrad is surrounded on three sides by the river meander. Inaccessible cliffs rise to 130 meters above the level of the Struma.

About 10 km to the northeast is Pchelina lake that offers excellent conditions for recreation and fishing. On its eastern coast, on a cliff above the water rises whitewashed chapel of St. Ivan Summer. Built around XVI century a place called Bee from local stone, the little church was once a temple of the rest of the reservoir Pchelintsi village. Today it is one of the main reasons for visiting the dam.
