Izgrev is a village in North Bulgaria. It is situated in Levski municipality, Pleven region.
In Bulgaria there are seven other settlements with the same name - in Suvorovo municipality, Varna region, in Sliven municipality, Sliven region, in Venets municipality, Shumen region, in Blagoevgrad municipality, Blagoevgrad region, in Tsarevo municipality, Burgas region, in Nedelino municipality, Smolyan region and in Elhovo municipality, Yambol region. There also is Izgrev quarter in the following towns - the capital Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Plovdiv, Dobrich and Montana.
It is 16 km northwest of the town of Levski and 40 km northeast of the town of Pleven. The neighboring villages of Balgarene and Tranchovitsa are 5 km southeast and 5 km southwest. While the capital Sofia is 205 km in southwest direction.
It is situated in the Danubian Plain on the bank of Osam river and its altitude is 36 m. The climate in the area is temperate and is characterized by hot summer and considerably cold winter.
The permanent population is about 467 people.
It is considerably well maintained village - the main streets are asphalted with lighting and bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. It is about 2 km from the main road Sofia - Ruse - Varna. There are constructed electricity and water systems. All mobile operators have coverage.
Here are functioning town hall, community center, stores and restaurant. The nearest GP and dentist are in the village of Balgarene and hospital is working in the town of Levski where there also are high schools. Kindergartens you can find in the village of Malchika (9 km south).
Osam river passes in proximity and provides great opportunities for relaxation in the nature and fishing - in the river there are catfish, carp and whitefish.
No more than 38 km near the town of Belene is natural park Persina. It encompasses the 19 Belenski islands. It is unique and significant ecologically for here are located three biosphere reserves:
Gorgeous natural landmark is the Krushuna waterfalls in Maarata area (situated 34 km in southwest direction) and they are a must see.
Tourist attraction in proximity is Devetashkata cave - one of the largest and most impressive caves in the country. It is located on the bank of Osam river and about 48 km southwest of the village of Izgrev.
