Zavala is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Breznik municipality, Pernik region.
It is 14 km northwest of the town of Breznik and 33 km northwest of the town of Pernik. The capital Sofia is 63 km east.
Bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. The road network is being renovated.
Zavala village is at the foot of Zavala mountain and its altitude is 966 m. The climate is temperate but is influenced by the mountain relief. The winter is very cold and the summer is cool.
The permanent population is about 25 people.
There are shop and church in the village. The nearest schools, kindergarten and medical help you can find in the town of Breznik. The mayor vice-royalty is in Krasava village (8 km).
Tourism and landmarks
The village is situated in picturesque area at the foot of Kitka peak which is the westernmost point of Bulgaria.
The near Krasava dam is renovated and stocked with fish which makes it excellent place for fishing.
Other natural landmarks that you should visit in the area are the beautiful Erma River Gorge which is just 13 km away and the magnificent Brabcha waterfall (9 km).
