Dren village

Dren is a village in western Bulgaria. It is located in the municipality of Radomir municipality, District Pernik

It is 24 km south of the town of Radomir, about 35 km south of the town of Pernik, 22 km from the town of Dupnitsa verify and almost 48 km south of Sofia. 

Dren village is located in a mountainous area in the foothills of Mount Verila of 792 m above sea level. 

Its population is about 1200 inhabitants. 

The climate is continental. Its character is defined by the relatively high altitude. Late spring, cool summer, warm autumn and long winter.
The village is cultivated with town hall, three churches, community center and school, PBX, Internet access, cable TV and cover all mobile operators. Here is one of two in Bulgaria SOS - Children's Villages. Health care residents a general practitioner and a pharmacy. The nearest hospital is located in the town of Radomir. 

The village has a very serious displacement, from many houses can be seen not only the whole village, but nearby villages.

Dren is situated on the road to Greece. Regular bus service connects it with Dupnitsa and Sofia.

Tourism and landmarks


Its favorable location, convenient transportation and some local attractions Dren become a preferred destination for lovers of rural, cultural and eco-tourism. 

Dren village is popular with its unique church "Sveta Petka", which was built in 1844 and painted by master Nikola Obrazopisets and his disciples. 

At the village can still visit the church of "St. Spas", a memorial died for Bulgaria. As the monastery of the St Virgin, located in the mountains above Dren.
