Vitanovtsi is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Pernik municipality, Pernik region.
It is 8 km northwest of the town of Pernik and 37 km west of the capital Sofia. The village of Meshtitsa is 9 km north.
It is situated in flat area and its altitude is 751 m. The climate is temperate and is characterized by mild and snowy winter and cool summer.
Bus and railway transportation connect it to the other settlements. There are water and electricity installations.
The permanent population is about 343 people.
In the village are functioning town hall and shop. GP and dentist are working in the village of Meshtitsa. Specialized medical help you can get on the territory of Pernik where are situated the nearest schools and kindergartens. There is constructed new Orthodox church "Vsi Svetii". There are football club and stadium.
Tourism and landmarks
Vitanovtsi enjoys its own survakari group which presents the typical for the historical area Graovo winter survakari and masquerade games and customs that are connected with the festivals in the New Year's calendar - from Christmas to Bogoyavlenie.
Historical landmark that you can visit in the area is the fortress Krakra in the town of Pernik.
The dams Meshtitsa and Yardzhilovtsi (5 km) create great conditions for fishing. And near Slakovtsi dam (9 km) there is complex for relaxation and sport fishing that consists of hotel, restaurant, bungalows and coffee house.
