Viskyar is a village in West Bulgaria. It is situated in Pernik municipality, Pernik region.

It is 15 km northwest of the town of Pernik, 9 km southeast of the town of Breznik, 10 km northwest of the village of Rasnik and 8 km in the same direction from the village of Meshtitsa. The capital Sofia is 45 km east.

It is located in mountain area and its altitude is 784 m. The climate is temperate. The spring comes considerably late in the end of March the beginning of April. The summer is not hot. The winter comes earlier than in the other parts of the country.

Bus transportation connects it to the other settlements. There are constructed electricity and water installations.

The permanent population of the village is about 80 people.

Here are functioning town hall, shop and coffee shop. The nearest GP and dentist are working in the village of Meshtitsa. Specialized medical assistance you can get on the territory of Pernik and Breznik towns. Where are also situated the nearest schools and kindergartens.

Tourism and landmarks

In proximity to the village could be seen remains from medieval fortress. The village itself is located on the border of the protected area Meshtitsa which is part of Natura 2000 for the important birds that nestle here.

In the neighboring village of Rasnik there is club for paragliding. And the people who enjoy fishing could go to Meshtitsa dam.

The Giginski monastery "St. st. Kozma and Damyan" is just 13 km and is excellent place for an excursion.
