The village of Ribaritza

Ribaritsa is a village in the municipality of Teteven, Lovech region

  

In Bulgaria there is another village with the same name - in Etropole Municipality, Sofia District. 

  

It is situared 12 km south-east of Teteven, 74 km in the same direction from Lovech and 140 km north-east of Sofia. 

  

The village is located at the foot of Balkan mountain, in Teteven mountain, at an altitude of 600 m. It is situated on both banks of the Vit River. The climate is characterized by cool summers and snowy winters. 
The population is around 1400. 

  

Ribaritsa has many small shops, restaurants offering traditional cuisine, many family houses and hotels with pools. There are also horse farm and breeding fish. 
In the village operate a community center, kindergarten and elementary school. Medical care is covered by a general practitioner, and the nearest hospital is located in Teteven. 
Ribaritsa has regular bus transport connecting it with the community center. 

  

Opportunities for tourism and landmarks: 

  

Ribaritsa is one of the most popular destinations throughout the year. It is known as a climatic and mountain resort. The ecotourism is well-developed. The village also is a starting point for various routes in the Balkan Mountains. In the protected area "Cherniyat rat" can be seen a wide variety of birds. Haidushko kladenche / the well of the rebels/ is the place where was killed the Bulgarian revolutionary Georgi Benkovski. There is a monument constructed in his honor. 
At the beginning of the resort is situated the symbol of Ribaritsa-the small fisher boy.

  

Ribaritsa has preserved the spirit and traditions of the Revival period - guests can see many mills and craft workshops.
