Glavatartsi is a holiday village situated in Southern Bulgaria. It is part of Kardzhali Municipality, Kardzhali region.

Glavatartsi is set on the banks of Kardzhali Dam in the Eastern Rhodopes. It is about 10 km north-west from town of Kardzhali, 42 km north-east from town of Ardino, 94 km in the same direction from town of Smolyan, 81 km south-east from town of Asenovgrad and 50 km south-west from town of Haskovo.

The village characterizes with transitional Mediterranean climate. Sunny and hot summer with temperatures about 24 C. Mild winter with temperatures of about 0 C. The sea altitude is about 300 m.

The settlement is located in a mountainous region. Its territory spreads into a hill jutting out between two branches of Kardzhali Dam.

Glavatartsi is not far away from the municipal and regional centre - town of Kardzhali. It is in close proximity to the first-classed road Haskovo-Kardzhali. The international transport corridor No 9 Helsinki-Alexandropolis is envisaged to pass through the region.

There are many houses for guests and hotels built in the area. Beneficial for the tourism is the proximity to the dam.

Tourism

Kardzhali Dam is a perfect place for yachting, surfing and swimming. The dam is convenient for fishing as well, due to its variety of fish - brook trout, sturgeon, carp, amour, chub, perch, etc.

Hunting is organized in the game hunting stations of 'Zhenda', 'Bolyartsi' and 'Studen kladenets'.

Interesting landmarks are the Thracian fortress of Perperikon, the sanctuary of Tatul - the Bulgarian 'Stonehenge', the medieval monastery complex of 'Yoan Predtecha', the monastery complex of 'Uspenie Bogorodichno', the Devil's Bridge, the Stone Wedding and the Stone Mushrooms.
There are 30 eco paths in the region giving opportunities for mountainous tourism.
