Tran is a town in Western Bulgaria. Administrative center of Trun municipality in Pernik Region. 

It is 46 km northwest of the town of Pernik, 71 km west of Sofia, 82 km north of the town of Kyustendil, 18 km from the village GKKP Strezimirovtsi / the border with Serbia. 

The population numbers about 2880 inhabitants. 

Tran is located in a mountainous area on 703 m above sea level. Situated on both banks of the River Erma in the eastern part of the alpine valley Znepole. Surrounded by mountains Kitka, Garkov stone Charchalat, Murgovitsa. 

INFRASTRUCTURE 


Tran is small well arranged, maintained town. The square is completely renovated - there are benches, lanterns, fountain with clean, cold water. The houses and buildings were also renovated. 
There are sports hall for competitions in volleyball, basketball, football stadium and sports grounds. Back to School Geo Milev, in consatruction is a sports complex with swimming pool. 
Operates Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Internal Medicine with 20 beds, three medical and two dental practices. 
There is regular bus transport to settlements in the area. 

TOURISM and landmarks


Trun region is ecologically clean, with rich forests with diverse flora and fauna. In the region is practiced hunting. There are conditions for fishing (carp, perch, bream, carp, rudd, etc.) In the lake near the village Yarlovtzi. 

With all its diversity region is very suitable for mountain trekking, eco, rural, cultural, mountaineering and rock climbing. 

The most interesting sights in the area are: 

Rock Chapel St. Petka - unique rock chapel, declared an archaeological monument, is located 1.5 kilometers west of the center of Tran, Barintsi neighborhood. Also known as Peshternyata, it functions as a religious center since the medieval Bulgarian state until today and is closely linked with the legend of the patron Saint Petka Bulgarian Tran. 

Erma River Gorge or Lomnishkoto Gorge (named after the nearby village Lomnitsa) is included in the list of the 100 National Tourist Sites of Bulgaria. Passes through eco Trun. Its length is less than 13 km, located in the belt of 600 to 1000 meters above sea level and passes through the cliffs to a height of 150-200 m in rocks of the gorge have been built over ten alpine climbing route. 
Of 5-6 km from Tran to Lomnica village has a lawn for camping, there came a nice asphalt road. The campsite is not large, but clean and cozy with lots of trees. Indisputable advantage is the clean River Gorge that passes through the meadow. 

Near Tran Vrabchanski waterfall is located about 4 meters high to the waterfall has a karst spring, picnic, scenic trail through forest and mountain meadows, which leads to the village of Bankya. 

15 or 20 km from Tran has yet another landmark - Elovishkata mountain with its highest peak Plate (1,329 m), which leads to an unmarked trail.
