The new electronic ID cards, presented last week by the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications (MTITC), could also be used for voting from home, Deputy Minister of MTITC Valery Borisov told Klassa.bg. He explained that, if a decision is taken, such a voting system can be created in a relatively short time, since the technology for its establishment is not complicated. Voting with such a card would be a service similar to any other service offered by the e-Government.

"There are two key issues that need to be solved regarding this kind of e-voting: the problem in terms of identification of the voter and the problem in terms of security of information. The introduction of ID cards will solve both these problems, therefore, it's a matter of time and a decision for this kind of vote to be tested," said Borisov.

Meanwhile, it became clear that the electronic submission of applications for services of the Directorate General "Civil Aviation Administration" (DG CAA) would save citizens more than 52,000 hours and civil servants - around 4,000 hours. The project was presented to MTITC by Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski. 'Its implementation will provide more than 33 e-services of the DG CAA and improve 20 public records', he said.

The electronic services will be of benefit to 5 international airports and airport authorities, 15 airfields, 57 aircraft operators, 46 operators of ground handling, 3 aviation training centres, 8 flight training organisations, 47 organisations for repair and maintenance of aviation equipment, 730 pilots, 1,350 cabin crew (flight attendants), 465 air traffic controllers, 1,465 engineers and technical staff, 82 flight dispatchers, 85 flight convoy security, as well as 1,500 security personnel at airports.
