Thracian horseman appeared in Nesebar

Several days ago was found exceptionally well preserved votive relief of a Thracian horseman in Nesebar.
Archaeological excavations on the north coast of the peninsula, on "Coastal" started soon, but it was found very interesting and important finding, which gave the team of Prof. Anelia Bozhkova and Petya Kiyashkina , announced the press center of Nesebar Municipality.
When removing a rib, loose, opened relief of a Thracian horseman with a four- consecrated and authentic inscription in ancient Greek. After the usual formula, "Godspeed" caption goes by the name of votive Papias , son of Herakleydas .
In a square field is deeply embossed horseman running right by waving cape. The horse raised his front left leg toward the altar stone and wood, around which winds snake.
The monument dates from the second century and is evidence of the worship of the ancient Thracian Heros in Mesambria during the Roman era. The newly opened relief is in perfect condition and in the near future will find its place in the archaeological museum's exhibition "Ancient Nesebar".
It was the first relief of the Thracian Horseman, which is found in the ancient city. Hitherto known several similar monuments in the area, but they are the lands of St. Vlas Kosharitza and Gorica.
