Sofia stages scenography exhibition

Chavdar and Yassen Gyuzelevi (two brothers) will present their first exhibition in Bulgaria at Sofia's Gaya galley on April 28 2011. The works can be seen until May 28.

Chavdar Gyuzelev will present his preparatory scenographic pictures.

Yassen Gyuzelev will show his preparatory graphics To Tarot Cards 1900, which are to be published shortly as well as illustrations for the books Pinocchio and Don Quixote.

It is their first exhibition in Bulgaria. Before that they had two exhibitions, in 1984 in Parma, Italy, and in 2010 in Prague, the Czech Republic.

Chavdar Gyuzelev is an illustrator, scenographer, photographer, graphic designer and book designer. He has worked for Vogue, Max and Vanity Fair. He was the scenographer of the plays Klein Zaches Genannt Zinobe and Sirano at Thalia theatre, Hamburg, Germany. IHe was also Ikar scenography winner for the play Cyrano De Bergerac, staged at the National Theatre Ivan Vazov.

Yassen Gyuzelev is a renowned book designer inspired by Renaissance, Pre-Raphaelian art and the Realistic art schools of the 19th century. He is the illustrator of the Bulgarian editions of Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, Pinocchio, Oliver Twist, Grimm`s Fairy Tales, the Tales of Oscar Wilde, John Ruskin, the mythological story of King Arthur and Excalibur and others.
