Sofia hosts 75th Conference of International Law Association

ABOUT BULGARIA

The 75th Conference of the International Law Association has started today in Sofia. The agenda includes topics related to some of the major international law and human issues such as human rights, climate change, the protection of consumers, the compensations of victims of armed conflict, the legal regulations governing the use of chemical weapons, the reforms in the UN, etc. Bulgaria’s Justice Minister Diana Kovacheva said at the event that the major threat to modern society was terrorism and it was very important to strike the right balance between security and human rights protection. She added that international law was supposed to show flexibility in this respect and answer the challenges of today.
