Partial Solar Eclipse in Bulgaria on January 4 2011

Interesting

As reported earlier by The Sofia Echo, a partial solar eclipse will be seen in Bulgaria on January 4 2011, starting at 7.57am, while the sun will be obstructed at the most about three hours later, the Bulgarian news agency (BTA) reported.

By 10.55am, about 86 per cent of the sun's disk will be covered by the moon.

The solar eclipse will be widely visible across most of Europe, North Africa, and as far east as India. Sky-gazers in Norway, Sweden, Finland and northern Russia will be treated to as much as a 92 per cent eclipse. The phenomena will also be visible in some extreme parts of north America.

In England, the eclipse will be at its maximum at about sunrise, with the moon covering 75 per cent of the sun, while in Paris and Berlin, about 80 per cent of the sun will be covered near sunrise.

Would-be observers are reminded not to look at the sun under any circumstances without adequate protective shielding for the eyes.

Bulgarian admirers of full solar eclipses will have a long way to go and a long time to wait.

A full solar eclipse will be visible from Australia on November 13 2012, while – for just more than 11 minutes – a full solar eclipse will be visible from Sofia on September 3 2081.
