Finance and Taxes

About 54% of the deposits belong to women, showed a survey of UniCredit Bulbank, presented during the official opening of its branch in Sofia, offering products designed especially for women. Specialized areas for offering the Donna product line have also been established in several big Bulgarian cities.

Over the last two years, the number of women in the country using credit cards has increased by more than 40%, showed data of UniCredit Bulbank. Within this period, mortgage loans drawn by women have increased by only 9%, while consumer loans extended to ladies have even decreased by 7%. The number of debit cards, issued to ladies by UniCredit Bulbank, has increased by 44% to 340,000 within the last two years.

“The contention that women spend money saved by men is about to be discarded,” said Pascuale Giamboi, Head of Retail Banking of UniCredit Bulbank. “The Donna credit and debit cards are aimed at attracting ladies as clients, entitling their owners to special discounts for shopping at certain stores or staying at certain hotels. The product line for women includes the possibility of leasing a car or using an investment loan. The bank assured that, if necessary, their consultants will advise ladies on how to invest their money.
